Location is Super! Staff very nice esp the guy who always seems on duty Bed was comfy Had all I needed..tv, bed, shower..what more do ya need! Also got a bottle of prosecco complimentary for new years eve!

This is a simple, no-frills pension hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable and are spotlessly clean. Each room is serviced daily down to having the floors washed. New linens are provided daily, and the staff are kind, courteous and helpful. I asked for a quiet room and apart from some noise from guests in the stairs occasionally, I could not hear a thing from outside. Good value for money, and incredibly convenient.

Room was nice, cozy and comfortable. As soon as you walk downstairs from the hotel your busled immediately to restaurants, shopping. The staff was awesome, courteous, helpful especially the woman who works there she carried my very heavy suitcase downstairs for me and would not take a tip she said it was part of her job. NOT to me (part of her job). . She was a kind, sweet and showed me such gratitude. When I come back to Amsterdam I will definitely make accommodations at Hotel Van Gelder. I loved Amsterdam, the food, canals art, coffee shops but most of all I love the people who showed me kindess and hospitality. I live in the US and rarely get what I was shown in Amsterdam. Love you Amsterdam 💕

The rooms were big, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom had plenty of room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was very easy to find, very close to Centraal station. It was clean, the windows were easy to open and close. (We didn’t try breakfast.) Everything was great!

All the recetion staff were friendly and welcoming. The housekeeping team ensured the hotel was always clean and tidy. Augusto on reception was particularly friendly and made lots of good suggestions for our time in Amsterdam. The location of the hotel is superb - 10 minutes from the station and within 15 minutes of most major attractions. We had requested a room on a lower floor as we are not youngsters and did not want to carry our bags up very steep stairs - a lower room request had been acknowledged and actioned. We enjoyed sitting in the reception area of an evening and enjoying a beer or a coffee. Tthe hotel is also surrounded by good places to eat. We would definitely return and will recommend to others

Absolutely stunning views, amazing location. Lovely staff and decent rooms. Although they had no facilities for food they offered discount in neighbouring restaurants which were lovely and were good value for money. On our booking we stated that the day of our arrival was mine and my partner’s anniversary and the staff were amazing in facilitating us with one of three rooms in the hotel with a stunning view and changed our room from a twin to a double for us! Staff here are absolutely amazing and added to the amazing stay that we had.

Location was amazing (300 metres from train and dam square on the damrak) the damrak is an easy road to find. Small selection of snacks and drinks which where very cheap (including bottles of beer for less than €2 - which for Amsterdam is insane) service and staff were lovely no matter what the time. Always happy to help. Choice of breakfast bars right outside hotel, some of the best architecture in Amsterdam right outside and simply a good hotel in a fantastic location. It isn’t a hotel to hang around in (no bar and fairly small other than rooms) but there is a relaxing area, they were great with bags for check out days. I genuinely cannot fault this hotel. It’s not plush and if you want 5 star this isn’t it. But if you want a hotel for the lads in a location you can find easily when very very wobbly, this is the one for you. Perfect for small groups

Super nice and friendly atmosphere. All the people are great. We stayed in room 23, it’s a big one with comfortable beds, a small table with two chairs. The hotel is super clean. It’s just a few walking minutes from the central station and directly in the city center. You can get a coffee, drinks or toast if you want. It’s a very nice surroundings. I will come back for sure.
